The annual happy Xmas/ what's been the TW highlight of the year thread

Hope you good people have had a good year and have a good Christmas (other seasonal celebrations are available).

TW highlights? What’s been the best plugin/ bit of code/ most helpful thing from the last 12 months?!

Good question I can’t really answer, I have once again being overwhelmed by the community, tiddlywikis power and my own journey to understand it. A few observations

  • targeted use of LLMs seems to work well but some posts relying on LLMs as a first resort are rubbish.
  • TW graph excits me I hope to use it in coming weeks
  • conversations with @Springer and @etardiff and others on missing tiddlers have been very inspiring and I recently made a new discovery I am yet to share
  • @EricShulman’s contributions and tools remain powerful and illustrate how sophisticated tiddlywiki can be
  • there have been fantastic contributions from too many others to name.

this is the best subject specific community I have ever being involved in since the internet became public.

have a happy new year

Being visual first, I was very taken by the design & utility of @Scott_Sauyet’s Period TableWHOOPS!! That was in '23. So probably does not count …
… despite it being-on-my-mind (Country version) all this year.

My GREATEST revelation was TiddlyTools/PasteUp. It is fundamentally brilliant for easily constructing self-contained interfaces. Again, Visual Ease is it’s appeal to me. It is entirely a visual grid. There is a long discussion of it.

p.s. glad TIDings from Mittel Europa

I’d say it’s @FlibblesTW5-Graph, an amazing piece of code and documentation.

And also, the wonderful TiddlyWiki core developers, plugin authors and community contributors. Not only do you create a brilliant tool but you also welcome and help every user and community member, so thank you all!

Season’s greetings!

I would like to wish a happy Christmas/end-of-year season to all TW community members. This has been without any doubt one of the most amazing online communities I ever interacted with so far, and I really hope and believe it will continue to strive in the future. Sure, TW is an amazing piece of software in itself, but it is the community that makes it really shine.

For me, if I could say two words about what I found particularly amazing this year, it would be the work of @EricShulman in providing help to users of his tools and updating them according to their needs and wishes. This is a very impressive mindset and execution.
Of course, Eric is not the only member with this mindset. I experienced it myself already, with people such as @Maurycy providing help and updating their tools so they can better integrate with other tools.

TW gives me hope in the future of (personal) computing. Sometimes, I feel the need to express this, even if it is done somewhat ungainly…

Thanks! I unfortunately have stopped using TW as actively as I had hoped I would be able to (A mixture of things) but I made promise to keep my plugins up to date and I plan to keep that promise. It’s always joy to come back to doing some more TW work.

I don’t know that there’s any one best, but this exciting one absolutely must be mentioned:

My two highlights have both been provided by @Mohammad .

The tufte-lite plugin and the problem deck plugin (and my tweak of that) have been good additions to my TW.

And the ever helpful and kind rest of you

The autocomplete plugin is widely used and relied on daily by many users. I hope we’ll see improvements in the new year, especially with TiddlyWiki 5.4.0.
