If the editor is set to codemirror, placeholder will disappear, codemirror supports placeholder.js as a add-on, I think this is the missing part in tiddlywiki;
I tried loading placeholder.js as an add-on, but had to also modify the codemirror engine.js plugin to add placeholder; seems to work fine
