  • Converge - Your thoughts, organized
  • Quiki - It’s quick
  • BlinkNote - Blink and it’s done
Some more name ideas

I kind of like the sound of “Converge” and “BlinkNote”

Probably just my disfunctional mind but “Quiky” sounded somewhat sexual to me.

I think mithology and history might give some instantaneous attention boost and mistical flavour when introduced to new audience, here is some fast chat-gpt generated list:

  1. AthenaVault: Athena is the Greek goddess of wisdom and knowledge, and the term “vault” implies a secure storage of valuable information.
  2. MerlinArchive: Named after Merlin, the legendary wizard known for his wisdom and magic in Arthurian legend.
  3. MimirHub: Mimir is a figure from Norse mythology renowned for his knowledge and wisdom.
  4. HermesCodex: Hermes was a messenger in Greek mythology, associated with communication and intelligence.
  5. OsirisLibrary: Osiris is an Egyptian god associated with wisdom, and “Library” suggests knowledge and information.
  6. OracleIndex: In ancient times, oracles were sought for their knowledge and prophetic insights.
  7. SolomonVault: King Solomon is known for his wisdom and vast knowledge.
  8. ArcaneArchivist: “Arcane” refers to mysterious or secret knowledge, and “Archivist” implies someone who collects and maintains information.
  9. ZephyrEncyclopedia: “Zephyr” is a gentle breeze and often symbolizes something that guides or aids, while “Encyclopedia” conveys comprehensive knowledge.
  10. HyperionAtlas: Hyperion is a Titan associated with light, and “Atlas” is known for holding up the world, symbolizing strength and support of vast data.

Quicky / Quikey – is now mainly homo stuff.

Or did you mean quirky?
That means odd and, sometimes, original.
Or a qwerk?

I did mean I wouldn’t name it Quicky because might induce sexual jokes, just it

if we’re still brainstorming i’d vouch for “TidWiki” and “Tids”/“Tidbits” as it’s sufficiently similar to the current name (including in meaning) but avoids the connotations that are bothering people.

Upthread I argued against changing the name. I have not changed my mind on that. But if we do change it, I agree that this is the best choice.

I’ve yet to meet someone perturbed by the current "tiddlywiki and “tiddler”. They mostly think that it sound cute. Now I don’t know if “cute” is the vibe to aim for. It speak to me, but it might not speak to everyone.

But if we truly need to change it, as a french-speaker, I would suggest to avoid replacing tiddler with “tidbits”. It don’t sound as easy to pronounce in this language, and worst, I can already imagine how a lot of people will perceive it as a sexual reference.

I don’t have any problem with tidwiki and tids.

I have no issue with the current naming convention.

If Tiddlywiki becomes Formerly Known as Tiddlywiki then it should be supported by Marketability…which will require new domain names etc.

Tiddlywiki has a good reputation in my eyes. It’s been around for a LONG TIME! That really says a lot.

If my vote counts, I vote against changing the names.

TiddlyWiki contains tiddlers, and it’s a mnemonic device more than anything else. If “tiddlers” causes issues, I would postulate that it can be used interchangeably with “nodes”. Then the mind would stick to the less disruptive terminology. This could be embedded in the canonical tone of voice. For example:

Find: “tiddlers” - Replace with: “nodes (or tiddlers)”

But since this is a brainstorming thread, I always liked “Vibromaster King Kong 3000”. It has a monumental ring to it.

What about Twiki, pronounced like tweaky. Or just Tweaky. The notetaking tool you can tweak to your liking.

TWiki is already the name for another wiki system, created by Peter Thoeny and pre-dates TiddlyWiki by several years (initial release was in 1998).

With regard to Peter Thoeny, make it look like an accident. Then let’s appropriate the name.

No. No. You can’t do that.

Given all the wafting, cycling, debate
Pray again.

I don’t know whether if you were not a minister, I would have snorted aloud at this.

But you are.

And I did.

You were supposed to snort out loud at a minister telling Eric to “make [Peter Thoeny’s murder] look like an accident”.

Well, of course, and I always do what I’m supposed to.

Really… Always.
