[tw5] The kind of workflow I like for collaboration on documentation

Although I’m using Google Drive here, same think could be done with Notion and I’m sure a host of services I’m not thinking of.

This may not be for everybody. FYI just in case this kind of communication approach is something you’ve never tried.

I am a huge fan of using this as a way to collaboratively comment on documentation. In this scenario, I’ve got a tiddler printed to PDF, and folk can just highlight an area of the PDF to relate a comment, which can turn into a thread of discussion, and turn into one or more task items that can be managed right there.

Alternatively, the tiddler can be turned into a Google Doc, which can be dynamically altered via shared window during an online meeting. (PDF better to just discuss the existing document until it is time to apply revisions, Google DOC better if individual revisions are made asap and available while comments might still be happening.)

Just as a temporary example, I’ve made this PDF publicly visible to the whole world (along with comments), and anybody with a Google account can add comments to the PDF.

As per the screenshot below, just highlight an area of the PDF, and click on that funny “+” button on the right edge of the PDF. Or reply to a comment that already exists (I’ve put one further down by the “type” attribute.)

Yeah, just making this available for a short while because who knows what kind of opportunity for mischief this creates … normally, I lock this kind of thing down to specific Google accounts.
