TW on youtube... not necessarily what it appears to be!

I did a youtube search for tiddlywiki (here) and filtered it to only show the last month.

To my surprise, there are quite a few reviews of TW from different channels!

…and they were, strangely, all about comparing TW to Obsidian…

…and they were all very short, ca 1.5 minutes…

…and watching them, they were surprisingly similar in content. Not identical at all, just similar. (And they all gave some fair assessments of TW, I guess)…

Hm, how peculiar…

…so peeking closer at one of the channels, I note it is an extremely prolific producer of videos that, for some reason, a few months ago only made videos in Hindi (!) untill it totally switchted to English…

…and the first English video was very obviously AI generated (evident by the dead voice)…

…but the later ones are very convincing…

:sob:

To end on a positive note, I also found this uplifting and ambitious video from a charming young woman! (Are you here on the forum - @ Ruth Ake?)

I watched Ruth’s entire YouTube presentation (it’s about 1 hour), and found it a very good general introduction to TiddlyWiki.

I also posted a few YouTube comments on the video to point out some areas where the demonstrated workflows can be streamlined to make things even easier than shown.

I suggest that other TiddlyWiki users also view her video and post comments there to encourage her to make more TiddlyWiki walkthrough videos.

Personally, I wouldn’t pay much attention to these AI-generated videos about TW. They are probably generated in bulk by “content farm” channels.

About a year ago, there was a new account (Shadow Tiddlers) who posted some videos announcing an upcoming series about TW but nothing since then. The author seemed to be young so it would have been a refreshing perspective.

Anyways, I do think that TW needs more presence on YouTube. This is how other similar apps are able to get new users. Many people prefer watching videos rather than reading documentation or discussions.

I do find it rather fascinating someone has sat down and decided TiddlyWiki has a high enough SEO value that the marginal cost of making these AI videos for YouTube is worth it.
