TiddlyWiki v5.4.0 has had a longer gestation than most releases, but I think we are finally ready to set a release date.
The date that Saq and I are proposing is just a week away. I appreciate that it is quite soon but the rationale is that the code freeze was two months ago, which should be plenty of time for testing and bug fixing. By now, the bug reports are tapering off, both in number and severity.
We’d still like feedback and bug reports, but there is now a high threshold for delaying the release.
I hope everyone will join with me in thanking all the contributors who have worked together to make this release happen. It has taken an enormous amount of time and dedication, and the results are impressive.
I am also looking forward to potentially doing more with Tiddlywiki.
As always, code contributions require sacrifice of time and energy, and that is so valuable.
I myself am primarily only anticipating dealing with high level stuff, but I am nonetheless very curious about discovering the known future plans of the core developers, so I can work with/around those plans, whether that translates to waiting on any particular work or the opposite.
Been looking forward to seeing where this version is going to take us. I’ve only started just recently and I like the concept of what a Tiddlywiki is. It’s not your standard wiki but something more.
I think we could do a live broadcast the week after TiddlyWiki 5.4.0 is released. Allow a week to patch possible issues, such as maybe releasing 5.4.1 to fix the update. But if there are not too many issues, we could do a youtube broadcast or anything else to detail them. This might be more useful than an article. Other advanced users can also describe how they used TiddlyWiki 5.4.0 features, or what problems they solved or how they dealt with them in plugins. These are all of interest to me. Since I have been away from TiddlyWiki for a while recently, I am a bit out of touch with everyone.
