Tiddlywiki Google Group

I read TW Google Forum through my Gmail! Normally I have more than 10 emails per day!
Today morning I received few and in the afternoon nothing!

Does this means active users moved to Talk Tiddlywiki? Is this a good news?

I think so. I do like Talk much more than GG. We will see how it will play out with Discourse. It may be a matter if the community will be able to keep the servers running.

If active users moved to Talk Tiddlywiki, shouldn’t they be seen in the user count. If I click at Users it says 143.

143 as many as that?!

Yes! I see this in About page! 3k posts in less than 30 days or so!

Thank you Mohammad. I did not know where to find this. Nice activity. But still not a stampede from users moving.

@Mohammad
Thank you! Right before my eyes - I should have known.
Just like the error in our wikies -staring us in the eye but taking an eternity to find.
How fitting for a tiddlywiki forum.

@pmario, am I right that here you are referring to FUNDING up-keep?

One other thing. Looking at it (not as an admin, but as a standard user) … it looks to me that there is much more administrative overhead maintaining a Discourse forum than a GG one? You, @boris and @EricShulman seem to be doing doing quite a lot of WORK?

I hope it is sustainable & enjoyable for you guys!

For me, I’m actually participating in the community for the first time in a very long time, as I find that Discourse fits my style more.

Some of that participation is in showcasing Discourse features and documenting them a bit for others, but really that is enjoyable too.

I expect as the new-ness wears off there will be not less to do, but different things to do, and spread amongst more people. With more categories and curation and more permissions possible, more people can join in and collaborate together.

Yeah. It certainly indicates Discourse IS a good viable step forward from the GG.
In short, currently active users are voting with their feet.

My concern is still: How well will a newbie, unfamiliar with BOTH TiddlyWiki and Discourse cope?

I’m waiting to see what happens on that before clapping too loud.

Best wishes

For now it is  … BUT I think the big advantage with Discourse is, that there can be many “Regulars”, “Leaders”, “Moderators” and “Admins”.

It seems we have much more fine grained “role based” possibilities to manage the group. AND the trust levels are “generated” automatically.

At the moment, admins need to “push” users by request, but in the future advancing the user levels should happen automatically. IMO that’s a big win over GG.

See: Details about “trust levels”
