TiddlyWiki Google Group issues

https://groups.google.com/g/tiddlywiki

I just saved two posts, and both were immediately deleted.

As a sanity check, I posted to another Google Group, and it worked A-1, so it doesn’t seem to be a general problem with Google Groups.

Just an issue with the TiddlyWiki Google Group. Not happy.

The problem persists. I post a message, the post seems to be there. I click on it, and I get a “message deleted” message.

The post seems to be there:

But no. This is what I get when I click on the post to view it:

Hi @Charlie_Veniot I am not seeing the post with the title starting “Sample: using TiddlyWiki to generate source code” that is visible in your screenshot.

The admins for the Google Group are currently @Mark_S, @EricShulman and myself; I do not see any messages in the “pending moderation” queue, which sometimes happens to new posts.

That’s correct. The post which says “message deleted” disappears from the screen when the browser is refreshed.

Could somebody else please try and create a post in the TiddlyWiki Google Group?

I just tested again.

Create a new post, it looks like it is created.

Click on the post to view it, it says “message deleted”.

Press the browser “back” button, refresh the page, and the post that looked like it was there disappears.

I did some searches, and this issue seems to have popped up randomly many times over the last several years. Several threads said to email the helpdesk, but I couldn’t find an email only this page. Google Groups Help It has a submittable form via a link in the lower right that has a screenshot option.

Just tried a post, and it disappears.

What PaulH said describes the situation.

The only setting I have access to that might be relevant is “Rejected message notification”. If we turn this on, maybe we can see why GG is deleting messages.

@jeremyruston Is it OK to turn on the notification temporarily for testing?

This GG thread also has this problem: https://groups.google.com/g/tiddlywiki/c/uDv-ckVE5N8

I did send @EricShulman a PM at GG but that may have disappeared too.

It may not be the case at all, but it feels like the Group’s SPAM settings are screwing things up?

As in “Choose how to handle spam” set to automatically delete, with rejected message notification set to “off”.

That would be a problem if Google’s spam filter is overzealous.

i.e. these settings (as per screenshot of a group I administer) are wonky?:

We have the exact same settings (that’s a new screenshot below). That’s why I would like to turn on “Notify senders when posts are rejected.” – so maybe we could get some feedback.

My feeling is that somebody reported their forum email as spam, and that’s clogged the works for everyone.

Whatever the problem was, posting to the Google Group now seems A-1.
