TiddlyWiki App: A Smooth User Experience (2025) for Multiple Platforms

It seems the first server that gets started uses port 8080, which clashes with my existing Node.js development setup.

The app has an autostart feature. So port 8080 will be “locked” by default. IMO that should not happen.

Every other wiki gets a new port quite above 50000, which is perfectly fine. So IMO the first one should get a random port too.

Yes, I was thinking about this, it seems necessary to change the default port number 8080

3.6.2 updated this tiddlywiki package to official

After a restart the wiki folder is shown in the window toolbar.

If I open a different wiki, that has the same visual appearence, the toolbar info is gone. So it is not clear anymore, which wiki is active now

Open Recent Wiki

No Folder Info

After a restart the window size and positions seems to be reset.

It would be nice, if the window position and size are stored somewhere. A plus would be, for a multi monitor setup, that it also remembers the monitor.

Using Windows 11 Pro.

I admit I was lazy in this part, I will fix it later

I remember that there is such a solution for remembering windows on the Internet, but it seems that it has not been updated for a long time. I think I can add a listener to store the window position in the configuration file. I am a little unfamiliar with multi-monitors, so I may need some time to study it.

For me personally a configuration setting in a settings file, that works on restart would be perfectly fine as a workaround.

I haven’t noticed any prompts
Wiki folders within the mac internal storage gets deleted, but those within onedrive aren’t getting deleted

Anyway to have two wikis open simultaneously to allow drag and drop of tiddlers between them?

Sorry, if use multiple instances, the complexity of the program may increase further, such as the window state configuration I am adding. The workload will increase further. If you want to open multiple wikis at the same time for dragging and dropping, you can open one of the wikis in the browser. You can also drag and drop. The shortcut key is ctrl+shift+o

Thats an interesting option. But can the wikis menu be modified such that it shows two header - one delete and another being open in browser - list all the wikis in under each headers as nested menu. By this way I can open which ever wiki I want in the browser window. Otherwise using the shortcut, only the current wiki can be opened in the browser.

Also the current wiki doesnt seem to be listed in the wikis menu

after updating to the 3.7.0 version the app doesn’t load on clicking the app icon

Try the 3.7.1 (it seems I really need a Mac device to debug, Thank you for your feedback)

This does reduce some redundant menus

This feature has been added to 3.7.1. I have tested all possible cases. It is enabled by default, and there is also an option in the settings to manually turn it off.

Regarding multiple monitors, some additional special cases may need to be considered, such as the monitor being removed. I don’t have the equipment to test it at the moment, so I won’t have the opportunity to add this feature for the time being

Size and window location looks good to me now. Thx

Also the “in app” update and restart function seems to work well with Windows.

This should be the general effect.

Can content be shared from other apps like x.com or facebook to this app using the share menu

I did see some documentation about the share menu, which is for macOS, but I haven’t come across it yet, so I don’t really understand what it does.
