Tea Books Beer Wine Conversation

Hello Everyone,

I opened up my tea house over the weekend, but it’s only been open intermittently as I’m a complete business novice. By the way, this topic’s not in the Cafe section because I have a cafe. I just wanted to tell you that the website I made is a TW and, although simple at the moment, I’m planning to do a lot more with it with the resources I have on the rented server.

So, I’d like your advice! Any advice; homepage or menu or even my opening hours. The tea house serves tea, coffee, and in the evenings it’s a pub. I’ll be serving breakfasts, lunches, and small dinners. I’ll be hosting events such as wine and cheese nights, live performances, discussions and talks: TED Talks comes to mind. In the other hours, I’m going to be continue running an English school which I’ve been running for the past 1 1/2 years. I plan to have an extensive library as well. My moto? is: TEA BOOKS BEER WINE CONVERSATION.

Please discuss! It can go in any direction you want.

Thank you.

Congratulations! And best of luck. Restaurants are not an easy business. Some friends who’ve run them did say they were quite rewarding experiences, though.

You probably want to change the wiki subtitle, as this is likely to be useless to users: [\TLOF25 -DCAP00 |My TiddlyWiki |a non-linear personal web notebook.

I for one would love to see some interior shots too (beside the keyboard/coffee pots/etc.in the header), something that gives a sense of what it’s like to spend time in your establishment.

Good points. I really appreciate them, Scott. I’ll be making those changes soon. And intirior shots are coming.

I was just about to close a tab containing this discussion and went to your website/tiddlywiki. I am not in Japan. I recomend the following;

  • Add a splash screen so people dont abandon your site or think it will be low performance so abandon it.
  • If the use is an issue consider a free cloud flair account to cache the site.

Thank you, Tones! Yes, the loading is embarrassingly slow.

About the splash screen: I thought it was built in. It used to be, it seemed. I wonder how I can put one in.

I’m re-designing the site so that the assets are linked rather than embedded.

And… I’m going to make a presentation to introduce TW to the community at the “library” soon.

I had another comment from someone here who said quite bluntly that my site was “plain” and “boring” and that I should “spice it up a bit”. I just don’t know how…

Thank you again.

someone who calls it plain and boring should propose how to lift it.s
