$:/state/ versus nodejs

Is there documentation to read regarding handling $:/state in a nodejs wiki as it relates to saving the state of the sidebar or expandable toc? Since $:/state isn’t saved. I realize I have a fairly large number of state tiddlers.

Does this require me to mkdir “system” inside “tiddlers” and create the sidebar.tid there?

States are volatile, thay just stay in the memory. I think this is good, otherwise you will have lots of changes in the git history.

I use this to auto close sidebar on mobile:

https://tiddlywiki.com/static/StartupActions.html has allowed me to set the state of things rather nicely.
