Awesome. Hope it goes well!
Hi @AlfieA thank you for spreading the word about TiddlyWiki and the Geospatial Plugin.
I hope the talk is a great success, and I’m sure I speak for others in the community in saying I’d be happy to help preparations if that’s useful.
Thank you, Jeremy. Your words mean a lot!
There is some space for submitting a presentation. I am working on that. I would like to ask the TW community for some guidance and talking points.

Let us know how this goes Alfie.
There would be value in starting a conversation on this. I am personaly a fan of what3words (w3w) whoes API’s can be used with GPS addresses, as what three words provides a three word name for every 3m x 3m square on earth it would be nice to map these to a tiddler name in which we can store information for that place.
I have been in touch with the organizers and it looks like I may have an opportunity to deliver a short talk in which I would be briefing everyone on TiddlyWiki, its merits as a mapping database and the Geospatial Plugin.
As per your suggestion TW_Tones, I had a look at What3Words. The idea’s very appealing to me.
Now… My computer’s in Japanese and the “three words” in the address bar are in Japanese:
とうてい。しまめぐり。こなぐすり
Translated: Possibly. Island Tour. This kind of medicine.
Location: Freeport (Bahamas) International Bazaar (a really happenin’ place when I was a kid and definitely NOT SO now).
This brings up some very interesting questions.
W3W is an appealingly simple solution to a complex problem, but it’s worth noting that it is an entirely commercial service and is only free to use in limited circumstances - see How does what3words make money? for details. There have also been persistent criticisms of some of their claims about the technology. I recommend this article for background.
I think こなぐすり would be powdered medicine (粉薬), not “this kind of medicine” (which would be こんなくすり)
I think this came up before, and I will say as I did before that we must be aware of a private companies limited openness and always be sceptical but I need to point out some of these critics arguments also deserve a high degree of scepticism as well.
I do get the feeling that these criticisms, although they may have some basis fact, do suggest a bias of sorts from the authors. Had such criticisms being less biased they would not poison the idea and relative value of w3w as much.
I have investigated w3w to a substantial degree in the past and even interacted with them in relation to the third dimension of height. I have also considered how such a solution works and feel they have made reasonable assumptions and rules. I doubt they are perfect but know they are not as imperfect as the critics suggest.
yours sincerely
