Source field purpose and usecases?

Is it safe to use the source system field for storing the URL assosiated with where some code or text of the target tiddler came from?

For example, if I made a post here about how to create a specific macro, and someone shares one of their solutions, and I want to return to this post at a later date, so I copy the URL, and place that in the macro tiddlers source field, that won’t change the TiddlyWiki URL to that talk.tiddlywiki url, will it?

Sure. I do use “origin” or “url”. Depending on the usecase.
