Replacement for Tobibeer's appear and preview plugin

Just in case anybody finds themselves in my situation where I have used Tobibeer’s appear widget extensively throughout my wikis over the last decade, finding it now creating conflicts but can’t really disable it as all of the embedded function would no longer work…

I was going through the forum and found this thread and discovered that @Mohammad has already created a direct replacement with his Quick View plugin, so Tobias’s original plugin can be disabled and Mohammad’s plugin takes over to make the existing embedded widget functional again.

What a relief!

Best wishes, Mohammad
Jon

Great find! Unfortunately, just like Tobias’s old plugins, this also doesn’t work with @BurningTreeC’s TiddlyFlex (and possibly other alternate layouts), but perhaps it will one day.

Hello @Jon and @yan
I’m not sure if @twMat’s plist (peek-list} offers the same features of the appear widget or @Mohammad 's Quick View but it may also be useful for some users.

It is not quite the same. The Quick View and preview plugins apply to all links; they are not a macro, they essentially re-configure hover behaviour globally.

plist is still cool and relevant though – thanks for putting it on our radar.

Thanks @yan for explaining the differences.

I do not use the Quick View plugin or appear widget, but may in the future.
I have tried the appear widget before, but although it is useful, I find it can also be annoying as well.

The plist plugin can be used to setup a tiddler that shows a selection of tiddlers filtered by tag and I find it can be useful as a comparison tool eg. All tiddlers tagged demo, example, snippet, procedure etc.
