Regexp to extract first character of words?

Me sucky at regexp. I can google up “almost” the right thing, but almost is no cigar in regexp and then there’s the step to make it work in TW.

So my question is what to write inside regexp[] to extract the first character of the input to the operator. Simple enough but, yeah, as I said me sucky.

Thanks

Hahaaa… you clever guys! You intentionally say nothing! And I hear you - you are absolutely right! There can be nothing in there and you can instead do

splitregexp[]first[]

Thanks! You guys, you!

G’day,

[[abcdefg]split[]first[]]

For whatever reason, I prefer nth[1]

[[abcdefg]split[]nth[1]]

Ah! Why didn’t I think of that!?

Thank you.

It was an occasion to help make an old feller feel kinda useful.

And I didn’t get my dose of caffeine in me yet, so bonus points for me …
