Recovering the advantages of the old .hta files

Folks,

You may recall the .hta file method, this runs a small program to load a wiki file in a minimalist browser, it leverages Internet Explorer. This is deprecated and may now be removed form windows. It had the following advantages;

  • Rename your wiki to .hta and double click to open
  • Opened a minimalist window and could save changes
  • Could open links to local resources

I was reading;

and realised there exists equivalent as a result of edge being available on Windows.

I am researching this now but any ideas and support is welcome.
