Plugins to plugins

In another thread, I described some progress in creating a foldable print brochure from a TW tiddler.

I’m considering expanding this idea and writing a plugin that offers a handful of templates for different layouts, but to allow the user to create and share additional templates in some reasonable format, probably JSON tiddlers. Are there any examples of techniques of creating a plugin that allows users to further plug in to it?

it reminds me of the autocorrect plugin, where you can save triggers as separate tiddlers and (theoretically, i haven’t tried it) import/export them.

I have built into some solutions new template buttons for the users our myself to extend the solution. I used a tag or field value to indicate that the users created item is to be used by the solution. I also prepare a payload filter that lets us see the users created templates.

  • the payload filter allows the users created templates to be exported, transferred etc… Simply as a json of tiddlers.
  • I have a suit of supporting tools I install a needed but could be included such as drag and drop install etc…
  • I just make the secondary “plugin” plain system tiddlers. No need to put them in plugin.

Please clarify a little more @Scott_Sauyet I have done a lot of experiments in this space.

After I wrote that, I built a sample JSON tiddler as input to this, and realized that I don’t have to do anything but give that tiddler a tag specific to my plug-in, and everything should just work. I likely won’t have much time to work on this, though, until after the local election on 7 November.

Just my curiosity (which can go un-full-filled) 2023-11-07 election?

Yes. While I’m running for a Board of Education, I’m actually unopposed, so I’m not doing anything for my own campaign. But I’ve gotten involved in the local Democratic party, and have been swamped with election work for weeks. It likely won’t abate until 2023-11-08.

Thanks for the reply. I have a deep, professional interest in Addresses since they are used as an important criteria in establishing eligibility to Vote [either as being contained in a “shape” file or as part of an Identity statement of Name+(Residential)Address].

I’d say “good luck” but a possible Acclamation needs less of that.
