I like it but would be more suitable if it were ONLY for fun. Perhaps a Tag?
When splitting content into more categories it is important if possible it takes more than one suitable subset of discussions with it and they all make sense so a Thought of mine is
TiddlyWiki Hangout (lounge)
To me this would be;
- Where we hang out and long form discussions may be held
- And yes where one may lounge about
- Chew the fat and intellectual philosophical posts
- Advertise ands publish the actual Hangout videos
- When you have “time to Kill” with a TiddlyWiki focus.
One of the key advantages of a Discourse category is to be able to subscribe or unsubscribe to notifications and we need to group things that may fit the same notification “profile”. Perhaps this can help in choosing another category.
With this possible new category and other Categories “Discussion” is losing its meaning somewhat, perhaps it should be come Discussion (Getting started, Help and Issues).

I’m not so sure “Hangout” is right in that it nowadays is used often for live sessions on video etc. So “Hangout” could be confusing.
“Lounge”, suggested by @pmario , however, as you pinned-down, is both a space (“Lounge with comfy chairs”) and an state of being (“Lounge around”) . That likely fits it pretty well.

I’m taking to it. But mainly from personal history. I was a student at the LSE for years. On the top floor of the LSE was a lounge where you could buy coffee, smoke, sit in comfy armchairs and listen to music (from an old steam record player with its own librarian taking requests). Luxury!
I’m not fully sure that internationally loungers know where their lounge is now?

Adding extra characters to make Discourse happy.
I did think to reintroduce April Mackenzie, the itinerant Oxfordian wikier.
I most often read this forum at work because I have implemented a TiddlyWiki for work use. (I’m documenting IT information that only I can edit but 4 others in the company can view.)
I thought the name you mentioned might be useful. I’ll not trust your miscellaneous off-topic posts in the future.

Actually I like this a lot and it has historical significance in Australia

It was the greeks and Italians who brought their culture of sitting around with a coffee and discussing the family and worlds problems. These were called “Coffee Lounges” with time and other cultures influence these have become Cafes’ and Australians have a strong “Cafe culture”. Have some business you need to talk through or a friend to catch up with the cafe is the goto location, and many also have a pin board or wall of Business cards for messages.
The main points here are;
- Perhaps fit more than one function to such a social group
- Why not put Hangouts in the lounge?

However if we are talking social perhaps there is another tool we could use, perhaps one with a broader applicability and audience.
To me the importance is emphasising the Informal and making it easy for someone new to “get the idea of that Forum with a single glance”.

Why is it called tiki bar?
The term Tiki comes from the Maori mythology. The Maori are indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand. According to their religion, Tiki is the first men created by Gods. Ever since the old days, Polynesian tribes carved images in trees of Gods.
So what we would do here is make use of “iki”
