Someone was complaining that they lost work in GG. I haven’t lost work in GG for at least a year and a half. But today I lost work in Discourse.
I carefully wrote up some questions for the developers category. Took about 15 minutes. Then I went to post. It said “saving” and an indicator spiraled around. And around. I could click on the “X” and it would offer me the change to keep editing or discarding. But when I clicked on “Editing” it just went back to “saving”. It wouldn’t return to the editor, and it only gave me the two choices. Eventually I had to reload the page because it wouldn’t come out of it’s non-save “save” mode.
The “Draft mode” saved only the first half of a line of text, so that wasn’t very useful.
I can’t help but think that the multiple servers of one of the largest software companies on Earth are going to be more robust than the single server situation we will have Discourse.
Now I know that I need to save a copy of my work before posting.
