Incremental Reading is a learning technique that allows learners to read a large amount of text quickly without forgetting the main points.
It is usually done by importing the original text from an electronic document into SuperMemo, but SuperMemo can be expensive and not open source. I embedded Incremental Reading into TiddlyWiki yesterday using the Fishing plugin, let’s play it with TiddlyWiki!
Let’s say an article straight from the internet or a pdf. Learners can extract important words from the article and make them into test questions (Q&A or Cloze) for later revision.
In fact, it is perfectly conceivable that the nutrients in the text will be absorbed by the learner as he/she extracts the key points and remembers them one by one through revision, which is an exciting way to learn.
Most importantly, with Anki’s review mechanism, the key points are easily stored in the learner’s brain for the long term, which is a very efficient way of building and refining one’s knowledge.
Here’s a video on Incremental Reading using tiddlywiki (Chinese only):使用TiddlyWiki进行渐进阅读_哔哩哔哩_bilibili. Of course the best way is not to watch video about it but to try it out Fishing — v1.3.1.
