We now know that the next version of Chrome/Edge breaks editing in current versions of TiddlyWiki:
Chrome 100 is due to be released on March 29th, and Edge 100 in the week of March 31st.
It looks like this will have a very significant impact for us. It means that at a stroke users who upgrade to the new version will not be able to make edits to tiddlers.
So, not only do we need to make a new release of TiddlyWiki to address the problem, but all existing TiddlyWiki installations will have to be upgraded.
I’m hopeful that we’ll be able to mitigate the problem in some cases. For example, it may be possible to make a bookmarklet that could be used to “fix” older wikis to allow editing in Chrome 100.
There’s a lot to do over the next few days to address this: we have to come up with a fix, test it, and make the new release.
