Hoping Mohammad is okay

Hi everyone

Not commenting on the politics of all this. Just concerned for Iran and particularly for @Mohammad. Must be a scary time there right now. Praying for you and for your nation.

Hear, hear!

This is a global community, and @Mohammad has been a fantastic and energetic contributor, expanding what TiddlyWiki can do, as well as the clarity and beauty of the GUI.

For those not aware, the Shiraz plugin is named after the beautiful historic city of Shiraz in Iran, which is one of the places with a recent spike in conflict. Our thoughts are with you and your loved ones and neighbors @Mohammad.

Thanks for voicing this @DaveGifford and @Springer I have been thinking about @Mohammad myself.

sadly I expect he won’t see our messages given interruptions to internet in Iran.

Please let us know you are safe @Mohammad when you get the chance.

I started to worry about @Mohammad when I knew that Iran shut down their Internet. Now the link to the website of his university in his github profile can no longer be visited ATM.

Following that link, which I did, could flag you as a collaborator by the US or a revolutionary with the Iran authorities. Me I am against Authoritarianism in both countries, so both should flag me, even although on these issues, I am at most a “keyboard warrior”.

@Mohammad My thoughts and prayers are with you and all people affected by this madness. Shiraz is one of my favourite TW plugins, up-there next to TiddlyMap.

Like others, I hope @Mohammad is safe & well.

Given the current political situation in Iran and the USA there seems to be no way at the moment to be able to reach him.

While we are still waiting our friend to post, here is an analysis of the current iranian internet-lockdown, that hopefully explains why we do not hear a sign of life.

So long all best whishes to you and your friends.

Dear friends,

I want to express my sincere gratitude to all of you who reached out, kept me in your thoughts, and shared such kind words during these difficult days. Your concern, compassion, and patience meant more than I can fully convey, especially given the recent challenges with communication here.

I am safe, and I deeply appreciate the support from this global community. It is an honour to be part of a group where people care not only about the work we do together, but also about one another’s well‑being.

Thank you again for your messages, your encouragement, and your solidarity. I am truly grateful.

Side note: There are still significant difficulties connecting to the internet, so I cannot respond or participate as regularly as before.

Warm regards,
Mohammad

Don’t want to talk about politics here, but I’m afraid that @Mohammad is suffering from another crisis now. The link to the website of his university in his github profile can’t be visited again.

The guy that wants a Nobel peace prize, who changed the Department of Defence, to the Department of war, is now threatening War again. I think his minions, if not his enemies typically shut down the internet in such tense times.

Oooh La La !

That last comment of mine was a little too predictive than I wanted

Right. Though where is the TW in this?

Since you went political I should comment …

Sometimes an Idiot, a Worzel Gummidge President, for the wrong reasons, facilitates a positive change by accident?

TBH, Iranian society is richly complex and internally they currently have big problems many Iranians strongly want to get rid of.

I have no idea yet IF Trump attacks on Iran may help or hinder?

@TW_Tones could you author a TW about the issues?

My comment was made before this happened and was out of concern for Mohammed. my comment was a prediction that came true.

your comment was made after the war started and is suggesting it may be appropriate. you have made a political statement about a hot war I doubt your position can ever be proven beyond value judgements. the first victim is always the truth.

Continuing to pray for peace and praying and hoping @Mohammad Mohammad and his loved ones are okay. His last post was late January. It is now April.

I too am deeply worried.

I’m both personally grateful for @Mohammad for all his attentive responsiveness to communications over the years, and on behalf of the community for such a wide range of tools that really have changed what’s possible to do in this ecosystem/platform.

My fingers are crossed that the current silence is due simply to a combination of lack of internet and to the urgency of everyday logistical, safety, and economic concerns.

I cannot do justice here to my sentiments, but I do think it’s appropriate to mark my outright opposition and rejection of the violence playing out now, most of which was initiated in the name of my fellow citizens. We happen to know @Mohammad. Millions more we do not know, but we must hold all their lives to be worthy of recognition and protection.

The situation has to be very complicated. Since the people’s uprisings, between the end of last year and the beginning of this year, the Iranian government blocked the Internet and social networks. It is to be expected that in the current circumstances they are doing the same, to control the narrative and avoid internal revolts.
I am concerned about why Mohanmad worked at a university, if I remember correctly in the field of chemistry, and they have been military targets in recent weeks, I suppose, because of their relationship with possible weapons applications. Let’s hope it didn’t happen at his university or that in any case he was caught in a safe place.

It is not important “why he worked at a university”, it is true he an his family may be at risk, but as it stands this risk has primarily being the actions of Israel and the U.S.
