Floats - floating draggable and resizable windows

Hello

I recently came across Floats (see https://groups.google.com/g/tiddlywiki/c/5TxOTeJOnXA) and (Floats + Nlite —) and I am wondering what became of this project.

Did it ever progress beyond ‘a very rough and quick proof of concept’?

I can think of many instances where floating resizable and draggable windows would be useful.

It seems @saqimtiaz did create the prototype. Saq any update?

There wasn’t much public feedback or interest, so subsequent updates focused on my own needs. As such, the newer versions are too tightly coupled to other components of my wikis to be easily shareable.

Today one could probably rewrite it as a purely wikitext based solution.

oh, I’m very liking the UI of a floating edit window. I tend to either edit with a mindset either of “I dont care about a preview pane” (for which the built-in editor suits), or I want a preview and a floating editor looks so much better than the default preview pane (mainly because the preview via floating editor is full size/custom CSS/etc - it looks native in a way that the preview pane can’t fully capture)

Thanks, @saqimtiaz

It is very disappointing that there was little interest in your initial idea.

I hope that maybe this conversation will lead to more interest being generated today as I think your work has lots of potential uses.

I am not very experienced in TW coding but I will try and see if I can adapt the demo that you posted many years back.

Cheers, Rob
