For many years there has been a bug I wasn’t able to easily track down in Mosaic Muse and tzk, which I assume has also affected other wikis, where a RSOD would appear when pasting an image directly into the editor (rather than into the page as a whole).
I finally got around to asking Claude to take a crack at this the other day, and traced it to the tobibeer/appear plugin, which hasn’t been updated in a number of years. This powers a number of other plugins that show hover popups and similar content.
I found that there was a fix for the issue in a stale PR on that repo, so I forked it, applied the change, made a few other updates to get it to rebuild, and have it available here:
Maybe everyone else but me has figured this out at this point, but given how long I just ignored this issue, it seems possible someone out there will appreciate hearing about it.
