Finally, a static html the way I always wanted it, built with TiddlyWiki

Hi everyone

The pieces finally came together for the production of static html pages the way I have always wanted them: collapsible sections, and expandable hidden material under a concise skeleton of simple statements. It is more than sliders or footnotes. It is a new way of writing and a new way of reading. Instead of long dense paragraphs, I can do a string of topic sentences, and use the sliders to expand on the basics: lists, arguments pro and con, explanation, evidence, sources etc.

It’s in Spanish, but you will get the idea. Click on sections to open/close. Click on text with + to reveal hidden content.

I know it is nothing as grandiose as “text-to-speech” and “speech-to-text”, and many other incredible new developments here, but this is still a big breakthrough for me, a vision I have had in my head for years. Me so happy.

Looks great @DaveGifford - clean layout with minimal UI to keep it easy for the reader!

¡Excelente! Yo también quisiera extraer páginas de html con detalles. ¡Muchas gracias!

(Noté un error tipográfico aquí: “…una ciudad estratégica debido a su cercanía del mal” – a menos que fuera un punto teológico :wink: )

@DaveGifford

This is wonderful!

Is the folding based on heading levels or special tags?

Will this happen even inside a tiddler?

And is there a way I can copy this to my wiki? :slight_smile:

Hi desmukh

No tags or heading levels.

This is the file I used to create the static site I linked in the original post. It contains extensive instructions I just wrote up for you and others to play with, and add it to your own TiddlyWiki. I did not test it out, so perhaps you may need another stylesheet tiddler or two from the systems tab.

Thanks Springer! Fixed!

Thank you for taking your time to explain so detailed. I made use of your tag pills. Easy and fast to use, that is what I like. I will only occasionally have a need for statics, so this will be perfect. When no need for statics I am already using your subsume plugin.

Gracias Dave, esto es lo que estaba buscando (this is what I was looking for).
