Could Discourse function as community plugin catalog

Every now and then I think about new ways we could improve on making it easy for people to find and rate community plugins. I’m wondering if there’s enough tools in the Discourse toolbox to do it entirely here.

Note that I acknowledge we have a few solutions already:

Using just the bits and pieces of Discourse that I’ve seen, we could do something like:

  1. People post their plugins wherever they want like they do today
  2. People make a “Talk” post announcing their plugin like most do today
  3. Users that like the plugin “vote” through one of the functionalities like hearts or we could add buttons
  4. A forum-pinned, sticky, wiki post that’s formatted as a categorized outline (like Dynalist)
    a. Each entry on the list is mainly the name/tagline and link to post on which it was announced.

There are other rating systems in Discourse according to web searching, maybe this can be made even easier?
