I’ve been trying to add the created field to one of my tiddlers to adjust the created date farther back, but whenever I click the add button, it just disappears. I can add other fields just fine, but not that one. It also doesn’t show up in the list of available fields. I did upgrade my wiki recently to the latest version, could this be causing the problem? I’d appreciate any help, thank you.
Gloria,
The created field is a system field that is hidden from the tiddler editor. when you do add it again, it will create the field again with the value you gave it, then disappear because it is not displayed in the editor. I find this a useful way to clear tags from a tiddler with a lot of tags. Add the new field tags with a value space. Unless there is a value it will not overwrite the existing field, but space is not a tag.
However unless you have a very good reason I would not touch the created field, as like the modified field it is managed by the system and in some ways retains the truth. It can get you out of a pickel if you make a mistake, or did a few days ago, by letting you find tiddlers based on when they were created.
- side note: There is a button under sidebar tools to turn timestamps on and off.
So If possible it makes sence to make your own date field, rather than modify a system field.
If you really must change the created field it may make more sense to use a date picker to select the date or a batch process to apply to multiple tiddlers.
Tell us more about the why?
