Building a TiddlyWiki-based wiki for an online RPG game

Hi everyone,

I’m building a wiki around an MMORPG project called Laghaim Code Zero (lhcodezero.com), and I’m using TiddlyWiki as the main platform to document game mechanics, lore, and player progression systems.
The game blends fantasy and science fiction in a unique way, with a strong focus on manual progression and player-driven gameplay — without LagRush or automatic macros.

  • Structure lore and Items building
  • List character races, mechanics, and abilities
  • PvP systems, politics, and in-game economy
  • Quests and progression log
  • Archive screenshots and item drop tables

Here’s an example of the in-game content I’m organizing in my wiki:

Gameplay

With 6 playable races, each with unique attributes and combat styles, the game offers full customization freedom. Choose between firearms, swords, or magic to create your own fighting style.

:dna: Playable Races

Bulkan – Melee-focused tanks with high endurance
Humans – Balanced ranged combatants with crafting abilities
Kailipton – Powerful elemental mages
Aidia – Hybrid summoners with high versatility
Hybrider – Advanced dual-wield class combining dual sword and hammer
Perom – Android race designed for destructive combat

PvP, Politics, and Economy

Players can found guilds, conquer territories, impose taxes, and create dynamic alliances or rivalries. Every player decision can influence regional control.

Exploration and Quests

Features a pet system, large maps, dynamic weather, day/night cycles, and rich questing with experience, $Lime, and rare items as rewards.

Visual Style

Optimized nostalgic 3D graphics
Free-to-play with optional cosmetics
No automation purely skill-based gameplay

Highlights

  • No LagRush or Macros
  • Old-school MMORPG mechanics
  • Manual, rewarding gameplay progression

Has anyone here used TiddlyWiki to build game-related wikis or game logs like this? I’d love feedback or ideas to better structure this kind of content using TiddlyWiki, filters, or plugins.

Thanks!

Welcome to talk.tiddlywiki.org!

Lots of people have. (Not me, I’ve never even played one, nor the boardgames that preceded them.) But there are regular threads here about people working on such games:

Or choose other relevant search terms. I’m sure you can find people whose needs overlap with yours.

welcome!

one thing i would recommend is to include lots of pictures for visual appeal, but also to host them externally (not uploaded in the TW file). lots of internal (imported) images can slow down a wiki, and with the amount of images most game wikis feature, it would be much better to keep them external (linked). see https://tiddlywiki.com/#ExternalImages

Hello, I have consumed a lot of wikis like this and contributed to a few but never created one.

I think it’s a very natural fit for MMOs. One of the most useful functions for RPGs in general is to have stat sheets readily available. It’s even more useful as you read a tutorial or any other piece of prose.

You could use something like the old preview plugin (with a bit of work) to have popups for stats on specific items, as one xample.

You can see the interface of Crusader Kings III for a comparison, where the entire interface (very successfully) makes additional information available by just hovering the mouse over any element. You could take this basic principle to your TiddlyWiki by letting people see information ‘in place’, without navigating to a new tiddler.
