A different way to do outlines and tables of contents?

Hi guys, and Happy Easter to all who celebrate it.

Ummmm…I think I accidentally created a different way to create readable outlines / expandable tables of contents. I was butting my head against the toc macro and getting further from the goal. So I thought, could I do this another way? And lo and behold, it works. Well, somewhat. See the Instructions tiddler for [edit: 6] ways I would like to improve it. But for what I was originally shooting for, it works perfectly.

Not a finished project, just a prototype, so don’t use it for your stuff just yet. I am not going to support this at this time. I think at this point I would just like some feedback / help with what needs fixing or improving.

I kept CSS to a minimum in the experimental version. Here is part of the fake toc with personalized CSS and textboxes for text in tiddlers:

That looks very nice. It illustrates the problem that none of the existing TOC macros actually work as a guide to the text contents. Well, the external ones do, but they take up an extra column.

One problem with yours (and I know it’s experimental) is that changing from read to edit loses your place.

Functionality, appearance, and operation look like workflowy.

Yes, I didn’t think of that. I use Dynalist, which is similar to Workflowy, all the time.

Yes I did notice that unfortunate behavior.
