5.3.0 performance

I’m hoping mostly for a sanity check here… I’ve noticed some considerable slowdown in my (admittedly large and complicated) 5.3.0 wiki as compared to its most recent 5.2.7 iteration, e.g.

  • when switching between Advanced Search tabs
  • when switching between custom sidebar tabs (I’m using a slightly modified version of @Brian_Radspinner’s Be Rad edition)
  • when adding a new field - the field name dropdown seems to be a particular pain point
  • when using Advanced Search - this causes temporary browser hangups on a semi-regular basis, especially when searching shadows or system tiddlers.

My layman’s assumption is that it’s filter evaluation causing the lag, but I don’t know what—if anything—has changed on that front. Mostly I’m wondering whether anyone else has noticed the same, or if this is (more likely?) a problem of my own making.

EDIT: Brian provided an optimization for this specific edition, but I’m leaving the thread open for now. I’d still like your thoughts and findings, if any!

If you still have it, try deleting $:/themes/be-rad/Macros/Tooltip

As soon as I switched over to 5.3.0 my wiki was very slow when showing and using the Explorer tab.

After starting fresh and re-building the UI, that macro is the only thing that significantly slows mine down.

Thanks, Brian - that definitely makes a difference!

I’ll leave this open a little longer in case anyone has discovered other issues.
