The above is all the content. Due to personal time constraints, there will be no major updates in the near future.
Thanks again @oeyoews ! I recently just switched over all of my TiddlyWiki content to this and am going to only use this for a while - . I assume you still plan to at least maintain this? Do you use it yourself?
Of course, I am very satisfied with this software. If nothing unexpected happens, I will continue to maintain this software. When I recommend tiddlywiki to others, I only need to ask them to download this software without any additional configuration. It is truly out of the box.
Version 4.5.0 will introduce a new way for TiddlyWiki to clip web pages. Unlike previous methods, this one does not rely on the Node.js TiddlyWiki API to write content. Instead, it uses the clipboard to write directly into your TiddlyWiki, which feels more intuitive. (It was, to some extent, inspired by Obsidian Clipper.)
Of course, this requires my personally developed Chrome extension, usewiki2, to work. I quickly validated this idea between tiddlywiki-app and usewiki2, and the results are quite promising. However, there are still some areas that need refinement and more thorough testing.
Will there be a firefox version for this extension
Currently, there are indeed no plans for support, as Firefox seems to have limited compatibility with sidebar views.
Hi @oeyoews and others;
I have been away for TiddlyWIki for some time and returned to see what is state of the art, TiddlyWiki App is looking great.
- Thank you for your effort and I look forward to seeing how we can help new users adopt tiddlywiki, independant of savers etc…
I created a new wiki from Create Wiki from Template > Import Single file wiki and imported my key organiser wiki, running at 13Mb + It’s working well and opening in the browser.
I have a few observations and issues I hope you don’t mind if I raise them. Of note, is this import raised the wikis version from 5.3.3 to the TiddlyWiki-app 5.3.6 so perhaps some of these issues are related?
The github project
- I expect later may be the time to add a little more support documentation such as direct links to downloads for each platform however It may help newer users to give them instructions to identify an appropriate download.
- I used tiddlywiki-app-4.5.2.exe on Windows 11
- If Tiddlywiki has a new release will you need to repackage it?, or could there be a way to enable the user to upgrade TiddlyWiki-App to the newer version of tiddlywiki so it does not become a burden to you?
TiddlyWiki-app
- On my windows 11 the black icon in and dark task bar makes the icon almost invisible when not active and not very visible whan active. Perhaps the icon should be tiddlywiki blue?
- The ctrl-+ and ctrl- - buttons, and ctrl-Middle mouse roller do not zoom in or out - this makes my content rich wiki hard to use in the app
- Much of this is resolved by opening in the browser, but would be better fixed.
- How do I change the active wiki back to the one provided, inside TiddlyWiki-App?
- I notice the installed app is called TiddlyWiki5 in windows but this may be more appropriate called tiddlywiki5-app or tiddlywiki-app.
- What is the best way to handle backups?, at least a few versions of each tiddler.
Questions;
- What if any concurrency issues need to be considered using tiddlywiki-app and via the browser at the same time? Similarly with mutiple users on the network (Even if we point to existing documentatrion)
- In the old Bob implementation, although flakey, I was able to configure which IP address and port to listen on, Is there any way to check and or configure this?
- This allowed me to publish the wikis on an additional IP Address using port 80 so no port was required, and If I later migrated to a server I just needed to move the IP Address to the server not update any links into the wiki. The whole local host IP Range is also available for local access only at lease in IPV4 IPv4:
127.0.0.1
Range:127.0.0.0
to127.255.255.255
eg IP127.4.4.1
on port 80

Futures;
You provide a convenient included wiki that opens by default, a dream of mine would be to enable non-developers to generate a wiki and include that in the exe install, so a predesigned wiki can be distributed as a fulling working app.
- How would multiple instances of TiddlyWiki-app be handled? such as port number etc… again if this could be configured.
- Could we provide more than one wiki such as an application and a wiki of relavent plugins etc…
I am doing a little research into local system access from within TiddlyWiki-app which is a strong advantage for wikis intergrating with the local machine.
Thanks in Advance
Tony
Thank you for your feedback. There are indeed a lot of questions. I need to take some time out to answer this question (I may be a bit busy in the next month). If you don’t mind, you can browse some other answers in this post, some of which may be the answers you need.
No Rush, Just thought I would raise them when front of mind, thanks again.
I will Just add with the Local Storage plugin installed changes to a wiki opened in the browser are stored and saved back to the server TiddlyWiki-App when restarted.
@oeyoews how to use the extension. I installed it in chrome browser. But dont know how to use it since its in chinese language.
Also can you limit the right click menu if there is no modifier keys used. This is because I use modifier keys for many use-cases and these have conflict with the right click menu
feat: support I18n by oeyoews · Pull Request #34 · oeyoews/usewiki2 · GitHub supports i18n
For tiddlywiki-app, the usage is to click the green button in the upper left corner to save to tiddlywiki app
Can something be done about this
One possible solution is to introduce a setting that lets users temporarily turn off the right-click menu.
What do you think (about this)?
That can be an option for the time being.
I would like the right click menu to be disabled if a modifier key (like shift, alt or ctrl) is pressed, if possible.
After some testing, it currently appears that manually stopping the server has a high probability of taking a long time to wait. I suspect that there might be something blocking this process.
@EricShulman
I wanted to get the windowsize info
using this tool of yours for a wiki loaded in this new app by @oeyoews
But the wiki was unable to load when I restarted the app after adding this tiddler. Any way to fix this?
Can this be implemented ?
