Oh yes, I forgot that I also removed the quotes.
I put them back when I removed the empty lines… and everything still worked.
Good eye, @etardiff!

As far as I remember, this quotes problem often occurs with iphones/ipad and is produced by these devices’ virtual keyboard, so it’s not really a TW bug. Tricks have already been posted on talk.tiddlywiki.org on how to configure the device to disable smart quotes replacement.
Fred
Fair - but I’m not on an iAnything. I will see if my laptop has some setting.
Maybe I misunderstood your workflow… Do you intentionally use typographic quotes, or are they automatically replaced as you type?
Are you editing your tiddlers outside of the browser?
What browser / editor / edit-mode plugin are you using?
Fred
Also, in your original message, only the macro call used typographic quotes, [presumably] pasted code was correct, so quotes replacement might occur only here on talk.tiddlywiki.org?
Fred
Thanks Fred. Generally, no, not editing outside of the browser (Chrome Version 138.0.7204.169).
And yeah, it might have JUST been the pasting. I am hoping! Time iwll tell
Thanks for all your help, and checking with me!
