Direct-To-Export Button -Possible?

Would it be possible to have a direct-to-export button on tidder while it’s in edit mode, I wonder?

I thought of this during my early morning walk. The screen on my phone’s so small. Unless I’m standing, waiting for a light to change, it’s nearly impossible to type using the onscreen keyboard. Then there is the problem (on Android phones) where the TW resets for seemingly no reason before you’ve had a chance to save everything. I thought: why not use a new image tiddler to roughly write some note or symbol so that when we get to a desk (or cafe), we can make proper tiddlers from the tiddlers that are saved to our Downloads folder.

Any thoughts on advantages and disadvantages to such a button?

Externalising content is always more complex to manage than keeping it internal. Have you tried using the local storage plugin to keep your current drafts stored in the browser?

  • Yes, I am confident you could make a button to directly export the current tiddler, but you may need to still interact with the save dialogue (doe security reasons).
  • This is less of an issue now as most phones have a continuos data connection almost all the time, at least here in australian cities.

Thank you, TW_Tones. That seems reasonable.

Yes, I always run my TWs from local storage. I believe someone once mentioned on here about how the browsers on Androids refresh unexpectedly. Actually Mark_S posted this: Save Your TiddlyWikis Without A Saver Or Plugin - #16 by Mark_S

Your first point: interacting with the save dialogue, gave me an idea; a workaround. I could just save the TW as normal and deal with the red "draft of"s later.

No I mean saving your changes between committing changes to file by installing the core plugin
Browser Storage: Local storage in the browser”

I could never get that to work in a way that I expected without also using btheado’s opinionated browser storage.

Together they let you do things like work on TiddlyHost without worrying about losing data when TH secretly disconnects. Or to work prolonged times without using data retreiving/saving.

It seems to me btheado’s opinionated browser storage is just a package of settings one may do manualy, if one understands the details of the Browser storage plugin. It also helps by adjusting the dirty indicator.

  • Very useful but unnessasary.
